The International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend takes place on 21 and 22 August. So far there are 340 lighthouses, some lightships and one time-ball tower registered. The event, now in its 11th year, was begun by the Ayr Radio Club. Now there are radio amateurs and lighthouses in some 30 countries involved. The 300th registration this year came from Rainer, DO7RKL for the Westerheversand lighthouse in the northernmost part of Germany. Australia has been a strong supporter of this event with 53 registrations, just ahead of Germany on 50 and the United States with 40 lighthouses registered to date. There are still lots of lonely lighthouses looking for the company of friendly radio amateurs to bring radio gear to them for the International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend. Only 150 days to go before the scheduled QRV of the multi-operator DXpedition on Thitu Island in the Spratlys 6-24 January 2011 and more substantial progress has been achieved.

The Philippines National Telecommunications Commission has issued the DX0DX licence and DXpedition Team Leader Chris Dimitrijevic VK3FY and DU8/VK3FY confirms that the required documentation is filed with the DXCC Advisory Committee.

For any of you that have visited us during a contest then you will have seen the graphical band plans that we have been using. They are very well designed by GW6ITJ, Martyn.

Martyn says on his website that he is planning to produce them for 70cm and higher.

CQWW SSB results are finally out and G3YBY, Ian and G4LDL, Tony both managed to win certificates for their entries in last years contest.

Ian entered single band (40m) and Tony entered all bands.

The aim of the contest is to promote contacts between stations in qualifying IOTA island groups and the rest of the world and to encourage expeditions to IOTA islands.

It started at 1200UTC Saturday 24 July to 1200UTC Sunday 25 July 2010 (the contest always takes place over the last FULL weekend of July).

We operated from the farm and started the build from Thursday morning.

There will be a DF Foxhunt starting at the clubroom on Thursday, 8th July. A complete set of rules are available below.

We shall be taking part in the RSGB VHF NFD tis coming weekend from Barbury Castle near Swindon.

If you would like to visit us or wish to help out then please feel free. The contest starts at 14:00UTC (3pm) and we shall be on site during the morning setting up.

The bands we shall be operating will be 6m, 4m, 2m, 70cm.
